We are proud of our Ivy Tech LiFT scholars who have transferred to SOIC to pursue their bachelor’s degree in informatics:

Andrew George

Andrew George

  • Hometown: Franklin, IN
  • Why I became a LiFT Scholar: To develop a meaningful career in the technology industry where I can utilize modern tools to create modern solutions for society.
  • How the LiFT Scholars Program has impacted me: The LiFT Scholars Program has provided me clairvoyance in my academic/career path. By attending industry visits, listening to industry speakers, and participating in other LiFT activities, I have been exposed to many different sectors of the technology industry that I previously did not know existed. I would not be completing a Bachelor's degree in informatics and aspiring to carry on to complete a Master's degree in applied data science if it were not for the LiFT Scholars Program.

  • Why I became a LiFT Scholar: I wanted to know more about the people who have the same major as I do so we can help each other. Also, I wanted to be a part of this program to connect with individuals in companies in my field.
  • How the LiFT Scholars Program has impacted me: The LiFT Scholars Program impacted my knowledge and how can I get better in communication with others. Also, what I want to do after I graduated. I felt more comfortable with other people since I joined the LiFT Scholars Program. It is really a great time for me when we visit real IT companies. Sometimes I wonder, how am I going to get a job when I graduated but now with this LiFT Scholars Program, I don't have to worry about jobs. I look forward to visiting more companies in the future.
